Infrared shooting or summer-like winter
There are no undershots in the lights and shadows. Beautiful clouds drift in the sky. Smiling face is as clear as the texture in the frying pan bottom. If I used black-and-white film the figure of the mistress of this old Kazan yard would look like a black silhouette against the background of the well-developed clouds, or on the contrary I would have to sacrifice the sky for the sake of the smile. It’s astonishing that the leaves didn’t turn black against the sky background. P Mode, exposure correction -2. Maximum filters set.
This Sony camera draws quite usual portraits. However they have some magic which is concealed in small parts. For example, eyes become big and deep because the iris merges with the pupil. General gentleness of the picture and absence of fine details allows releasing the photographs from redundant small details and focusing the viewer’s attention on more important details (See photos 6-7).
6. “Christening” from the photonovel about Raif cloister.
I like this shot very much. IR-mode with its photographic latitude and ability to work in bad lighting conditions without changes in light-and-dark composition allowed me to make a very precise composition in which the baby’s eyes dominate. Automatic night mode with IR-backlight switched on. IR-filter and two neutral filters 4X and 8X.
7. “Confessor Vsevolod, the governor of Raif cloister” from the photonovel about Raif cloister. Chimer grew lighter in IR-mode, eyes became darker, the bright colorful background ceased to distract viewer’s attention. Light is provided by the chandeliers and wall brackets with bulbs. Automatic mode. IR-filter, polarization device, the same which I used for blanking out the glare, and a neutral 4x filter.
