Scenery on the table
The rootlet is sprinkled with a special spray which is used in advertising photography to create an illusion of hoar-frost. Background is drawn. Thick plate glass is covered with kitchen salt. Soft-box light is tinted with blue filter and pointed to the rootlet from under the table. One more source of diffused light fills the shadows on the right from above. Reflector made of crumpled foil is used for backlighting shadows from the left. Background didn’t demand additional backlight (See photo 11).

Planet X 5. (From the series “Rootlet”)
The rootlet is sprayed to create an illusion of hoar-frost. Background is made of white plastic backlighted with a projector with metal mask and blue filter. Snow is imitated with the help of kitchen salt. Drawing light comes from the same spot with the same mask but without filter. The fill light wasn’t demanded: the salt reflected enough light to fill the shadows in. Camera Model Name - Sinar F. 9x12. Camera lens - Symmar-S 5,6/210, aperture 22. Slide Êodak ektahrome 64T.

Planet X 6. (From the series “Rootlet”)
The background is made of a piece of white plastic on which the light from the spot is projected. This light is passed through two colour filters and black striped Gobo mask. I twirled slightly the lines obtained on the background by means of computer. As a result they became more picturesque. The rootlet is backlighted with pointed source of light on the right from under the table. Camera Model Name - Sinar F. 9x12. Camera lens - Symmar-S 5,6/210, aperture 22. Slide Êodak ektahrome 64T.
