How to shoot objects.

However, such ruses can’t save the picture all the time.
You can win a principle victory over glare and unwanted reflection only by one means: you must isolate the object of shooting from any source of light or other objects which can reflect on it. For that purpose direct lighting is replaced by reflected light: the objects of the shooting are surrounded with white shields reflecting the light. The light is pointed to these shields, not to the object directly. As a result there are no reflections because the glass glossy surfaces reflect the shields surrounding them. The objects can also be placed into specially designed folding box (light cube). They are manufactured. This cube represents a wire frame upholstered with semi-transparent white fabric from each side which doesn’t change the colour temperature of the falling light. There is a slot in the front side through which a photographer can put the camera lens into the box at any height. If there is necessity of photographing an object against certain background, the back panel is taken away and the background is fixed on its place. If it’s necessary to darken some parts of the object you can attach shades made of paper or other appropriate material to the walls of the light box. In case of need you can brighten certain points on the box surface by means of directional light, and get in that way light accents on the shining surface of the object of shooting (See photo 9).

Objects with shining rounded surface, like this saucepan, reflect everything around them including the photographer himself. You can win a principle victory over reflection and glare only by means of constructing a light box, a wire frame upholstered with semi-transparent fabric from every side. There should be a slot for camera lens in the front side. Ambient or direct light is pointed to the box sides and doesn’t produce any glare, and the mirror surface reflects the white walls of the box only. It’s convenient to use capsule when shooting jewelry (See photo 9). It’s better to make the walls of such capsule with plastic.
