How to shoot objects.
Texture revelation of glass objects can be carried out only under the condition of back or top lighting. It’s especially difficult to shoot bottles of perfumes when their design includes details made of chrome-plated metal, coloured plastic or wood. In such cases there is necessity of double exposition. The glass bottle is shot in inside-light mode at the first exposition. At second exposition the bottle is covered with light box, and lighting is pointed to its surface part that is reflected in metal cap. Sometimes there is need of performing the third, the fourth and the fifth exposition. It is reasonable to resort to such techniques when there are quite different objects in one composition and when the parts of each object require specific lighting that can’t be obtained in one exposition (See photo 12, 13, 14).

Two expositions. At the first exposition the main flow of the drawing light is pointed to the white plastic background. This light is sufficient for outlining the structure of the glass bottle and its contents. But metal cap with relief surface was brightened from both sides with light brush at the second exposition in order to work out the metal texture. The cap would be perfectly black in the photo without second exposition. Camera Fujifilm S2 pro. Camera lens nikkor 28-105/3,5 macro. Sensitivity 100 ASA. Exposure 1/15 sec. Aperture 16. Second exposure is 1 second from each side of the hood. Aperture 22.
