Acutance and blur - what to do with them?
Acutance of landscape photographs should enable anyone to admire the smallest details of the picture: descry the crown of a tree, count the leaves, see that back side of the leaves shimmers blue, see the beautiful structure of sand at the river bottom, count the birds’ traces, distinguish delicate play of colour in the sand pits where shade is gradually coloured with the sky blue. All this is available only for medium format cameras or cameras of big format (See photo 2).

2. Burdocks. From series “Two days at the bottom of the Volga”. The Volga downstream Tolyaty becomes shallow on week-ends. As a result the bottom of the great Russian river crops out within the territory of Zhigulyovski reserve. Camera Model Name - Rolley SL-66. Shot 6ő6 cm. Wide-angle camera lens - Distagon 50/4. Slide - Fujichrome Astia 100 ACA. Exposure ½ sec. Aperture value 16. Tripod.
