Acutance and blur - what to do with them?

In symbolic photographic language acutance has several meanings like Chinese hieroglyphs. In view of the fact that perception of photographs is highly individual, everybody gives his own senses to blurred zones of favourite pictures. A blurred zone shows mostly the depth of space. Photography has also other means of overcoming the two-dimensionality. It can be surmounted, for example, by means of perspective. (Railing converging on the horizon is a typical example). Smeared details of background are also apprehended by most viewers as a direct evidence of the distance between objects on the foreground and blurred spots on the background (See photo 3).

The blur of the right side of the picture is caused by open aperture. Camera Model Name – Nikon 5000. Wide-angle attachment 19 mm. Sensitivity 100 ACA. Exposure 1/100 sec. Aperture value 4,5.
